This afternoon, Saturday December 21, 2013, EMER-G-MED’s RV07 and A06, as well as other services responded to reports of a aircraft crash next the the Gautrain Depo in Midrand.
Paramedics arrived on scene finding that a Robinson R22 helicopter had crashed leaving it on it’s side. According to the pilot the aircraft lost it’s power, forcing him to perform an emergency landing.
Fortunately the pilot was the only occupant of the aircraft. Amazingly the man suffered only minor injuries, according to EMER-G-MED Paramedic Braam Kruger: “The pilot sustained only soft tissue injuries to his right arm, shoulder and ankle, and was in a stable condition”.
The pilot was treated on scene before being transported to Sunninghill Hospital by A06.
