On December 19, 2013 at about 5.30am a 35 year old suspect was arrested for assaulting and burning his ex -lover’s property in central Kagiso.
One December 7 at about 3pm the complainant was allegedly washing her clothes at her residence when her ex-boyfriend arrived. The suspect demanded that the complainant, who is the mother of their two children remove all her belongings from his shack. He told her that since the shack was bought by him, he did not expect to find her belongings in it.
The complainant immediately took out all her belongings. Once everything was removed from the shack, the suspect attacked and assaulted the complainant. He then burnt the complainant’s clothes to the value of R1 500.00.
The matter was reported to the police who started searching for the suspect. He was traced and arrested at his residence in central Kagiso. The suspect is facing a charge of common assault and arson.
He is expected to appear in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court soon.
