Further to last week’s arrests, the Special Multi-Disciplinary Task Team set up by the National Commissioner of Police; General Riah Phiyega to investigate organised crime incidents involving Radovan Krejcir arrested another suspect yesterday in connection with the plot to kill members of the task team.
The suspect is a 34-year-old woman, who is a Sergeant within the Crime Intelligence environment. It is believed that the woman played a key role in the murder plot by allegedly providing software to track the investigators. Nine cell phones were confiscated from the suspect.
The first four suspects are three men and a woman – aged between 23 and 32 years were arrested last Thursday January 9, 2014 in an intelligence- driven operation.
Police also recovered firearms and police blue lights and siren. The firearms included an R5 rifle and two 9mm pistols. During the operation, police also confiscated three cars – a BMW X6, a Nissan panel van and a Toyota Fortuner.
This brings the total to five the number of people arrested in connection with the plot.
