A Grade 12 girl from St Teresa’s High School in Rosebank apparently committed suicide at her Hurlingham home on the first day back at school.
Eyewitness News reported that the St Teresa’s High School pupil took her own life on Wednesday night. She was apparently at home with her mother at the time.
She has been a learner at St Teresa’s for several years; her younger sister is at the same school and is one grade behind her.
Sister Barbara Summer, the school’s principal says that counselling has been offered to pupils and together they prayed for her and lit a candle.
It’s not yet known why the pupil took her own life.
