As the sun set over Gauteng today, the late Gauteng MEC for Economic Development, Nkosipendule Kolisile, was honoured at a tree planting ceremony at Turffontein Racecourse.

The ceremony was held by the SANSUI Summer Cup, which is proudly hosted by Gauteng.

Kolisile passed away tragically in a car accident in July this year.

As a passionate “GeePee”, Kolisile saw Gauteng as the home of champions and head office of African business. He was also instrumental in identifying the SANSUI Summer Cup as a powerful platform for economic development and to showcase all the excitement, wealth, leisure and entertainment of the province of gold.

Barba Gaoganediwe, Gauteng Tourism Authority Senior Manager of Destination and Corporate Communications told those gathered at the ceremony: “We welcome the good gesture from the SNASUI Summer Cup team and Phumelela in particular for recognising the impact and role played by the former MEC. We remain convinced that working together with the private sector we can achieve more.”

Michael Varney of Phumelela Gaming & Leisure said: “In honour of Nkosipendule Kolisile’s hope  for our province and this unique event, this year’s SASNUI Summer Cup will be bigger, better and brighter than ever before. We will continue his vision of growing and exceeding the success of other competitors, to showcase and benefit Gauteng.”

The SANSUI Summer Cup will be run on Saturday, 30 November 2013 at Turffontein Racecourse
