On Monday January 20, 2014, at about 10.30am, The Hawks and police at OR Tambo International Airport (ORTIA) arrested a 46-year-old South African man for possession of cocaine.
The arrest was made during a sting operation, minutes after he landed from Dubai.
Upon searching the wheel chair bound man’s bag, we found nine jean trousers, at the back pockets of each two packets of cocaine, in total 18 packets weighing 1 205 grams, worth nearly R350 000 were seized.
The man is a regular traveller and he is believed to be part of a bigger syndicate with international links dealing in drugs.
He is due to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrates’ court on Thursday, 23 January 2014, on charges of dealing in drugs
