You are invited to join the Douglasdale Business Forum’s clean-up and pavement landscaping on the corner of Douglas and Witkoppen Drives (in Ward 115) this Saturday, 25 January, from 8 am. This is a project to reduce grime and crime, and build community spirit. Members of Douglasdale SAPS will attend.
Participants will need strong plastic bags, a rake, a spade, gloves, sun hats, sunblock and drinking water.
The Douglasdale Business Forum (DBF) has wayleaves from Gautrans and Johannesburg Roads Agency to install this project. We have to follow the wayleaves very carefully otherwise we could face prosecution. We may not dig too deep or too close to underground services as we may not damage those services.
Members of the DBF have donated funds for the purchase of plants and compost, and both Trinity Maintenance Services (owned by Night Guard security company) and Palms for You nursery in the Rustic Timber centre on Witkoppen Drive are donating labour free-of-charge. Palms for You is supplying plants at cost. Douglasdale SAPS has agreed to send out its garden service once a week to maintain the pavement garden, which will be across the road from the police station.
This project will serve to improve the Douglas/Witkoppen gateway into Douglasdale.
