Join Alice in Wonderland these school holidays

You’re late. You’re late. You’re late for a very important date. You’re late you’re late you’re late.

Don’t be late like the White Rabbit these March and April school holidays and make sure you get your tickets to see Alice in Wonderland at the Peoples Theatre.

Disney’s Alice in Wonderland JR. is based on Lewis Carroll’s classic tale of a little girl who enters a magical, wacky land of adventure and intrigue. In addition to the ever-buoyant white rabbit who travels through the audience to meet the Queen and King of Hearts, the audience will meet Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee, the Duchess, the enchanting Alice and join The Mad Hatter for a tea party that will make both young and old members of the audience feel as though they fell down the rabbit hole and were carried away by the fantasy of it all.

Keith Smith and Jill Girard, who are behind every production at the Peoples Theatre.

The talented cast includes Minette Bouma as the “uppity and cruel” Duchess and the sneaky Chesire Cat; Siphosethu Sihlangu plays the “fun roles” of Tweedle Dee, Gryphon and the March Hare; radio presenter Sinakho Zokufa will make her Peoples Theatre debut as the whimsical Caterpillar and the bad girl, the Queen of Hearts. Actress Nastassja Jooste is the “deurmekaar” White Rabbit; and Emkay Khanyile takes on multiple roles as Tweedle Dum, the “super funny” Mad Hatter, the Mock Turtle and the nervous King.

The actors are passionate about creating a love of Theatre from a very young age thereby encouraging a life time of Theatre going.

As Nastassja, who plays the crazy White Rabbit, says: “I auditioned for this production because I absolutely love entertaining and interacting with children. I hope to make a difference by creating a theatre culture among young people.”

Child actors include Morgan Beesley, Naomi Willis, Teggan Mc Ginley, Kezia Du Plessis, Zethu Kalipa, Thandolwami Buhle, Rebecca De Broglio and Kaelin Wills.

Join the cast and their characters for this fast-paced stage adaption full of interaction with brand new musical arrangements of such classic Disney’s songs as ‘I’m Late’ ‘The Un-birthday Song’ and ‘Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah’. Situated in the Joburg Theatre Complex on the corner of Loveday and Hoofd streets in Braamfontein, this purposely created children’s theatre is South Africa’s flagship theatre for young people, staging more than eight productions a year.
