Johannesburg Central Sector Police arrested a 28-year-old suspect for attempted car hi-jacking at Fordsburg on March 18, 2014 at 1pm. It is alleged that two suspects attempted to hi-jack a 44-year-old female.
The victim was driving a grey Mercedes Benz along Dolly Rathebe Street. She stopped at the red traffic light and two suspects approached her; one of them opened a passenger door and got inside the vehicle.
She was instructed to drive or she will be shot; she screamed for help and suspects ran away. Police busy with their routine crime prevention duties saw the suspects running away and gave chase; one suspect was apprehended at Oriental Plaza. His accomplice is still at large and police investigations are continuing.
The suspect is charged with attempted car hi-jacking and he will appear soon in Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court.
