On February 16, 2013 an alleged suspect went to Auto Elegance in Voortrekkers Road to buy a car. He issued the said dealership with falsified documents to support a transaction to buy a car.
The car dealership’s loans are supported by Wesbank.
The transaction to buy the car was approved by Wesbank. The suspect received a 320 diesel BMW automatic vehicle from the dealership and left.
Afterwards it was found that the documents were fraudulent and a case of fraud was registered. The docket was investigated by commercial branch for a year. A warrant of arrest was issued in the suspect’s name on April 19, 2013.
On April 11, 2014 detective warrant officer Ronel Bronkhorst and constable Leslie Sibanda, from Wonderboompoort detective branch traced the suspect to Orlando in Soweto and arrested him after a year.
At first he pleaded that he did not know anything but was confirmed by his fingerprints as the suspect. It was found that the alleged suspect went to rehab for drug dependency.
