Crawford Preparatory Lonehill welcomed Dean Marsh as the new Principal of the school. Dean obtained a Higher Education Diploma from the Pretoria College of Education and then went on to complete a B.A degree from the University of South Africa. He started his career in education at Lynwood Ridge Primary School in 1991 as a Grade 6 Standard Leader and Maths Teacher as well as a Grade 5-7 Phys. Ed Co-ordinator and Teacher. In 1995 he joined Rietondale Primary School as a Senior Primary Head of Department and one year later took up a Head of Department: Maths post at Waterkloof House Preparatory School.
Dean has a great reputation as a top sportsman. At College he was awarded full colours for Soccer, received Northern Transvaal soccer colours, played for the first team in the Transvaal First Division league and was Manager of the Northern Transvaal Pretoria School side. He was also Chairman (1994 – 1996) of the Northern Transvaal Central Primary Schools Footbaal Association.
In 2001, Dean joined Beaulieu Preparatory School as Deputy Principal – position he held for almost 6 years before he joined Southdowns College in August 2006 at the pioneering Principal of the Preparatory School. For the past seven and half years he has developed his school into one of the top Independent Preparatory Schools in Gauteng.
Dean is a calm individual, wise and respectful towards others. He’s a strong believer in the continuous development of people. He enjoys being part of the development of Preparatory pupils and thrives on developing young children to their best possible potential.
Dean has a strong sense of community spirit and has given of his free time to teach Maths to township pupils for a number of years. Apart from this, Dean is a very happy family man, has been married to Lianne for 23 years and is very proud of his two sons Justin and Gavin who are both university students at the moment.
