Secrets of the Valley
The 3rd annual Elgin Cool Wine and Country Festival sponsored by Nedbank and Orchard suppliers hosted a splendid festival for wine enthusiasts; provincial and even countrywide individuals alike. With yet another successful festival, which took place on Saturday the 3rd of May 2014 had everything from wining and dining to purchasing artisanal products.
18 farms to choose from with an immense choice of different food and wine offerings, ranging from formal fine dining wine & food pairing to more relaxed gourmet burgers, homemade charcuterie and cheese platters and even sushi boxes. Something for everyone!
Activities included tasting an immense choice of different wines, from fruity sauvignon blancs, to pinot noirs as well as the opportunity to meet owners and winemakers, enjoying the scenery of the wine lands or simply taking in the festivities of the day, which included live bands such as Giaan Groen, ‘The Coast’, Stefan Dixon, the Rivertones Bob Marley Tribute Band and a unique Bag Pipe performance. There were also markets and solo musicians playing. It was no surprise that the event was a magical experience to all that attended as they escaped the bustling city and relaxed in the tranquillity of the Elgin Valley.
If you didn’t have the time or weren’t available for the festival on Saturday, make sure not to miss it next year, for a truly wine immersive experience, good wine, good food, phenomenal scenery and a variety of entertainment.
