Two suspects aged 26 and 27 years will be appearing in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 19 May 2014, facing charges of hijacking.
It is alleged that on Thursday, 15 May 2014, at approximately 12.40pm, the complainant went to deliver the cigarettes at a retailer in Bryanston, Randburg. He was approached by two suspects who pointed him with a firearm while he was reversing from a parking space.
The complainant was pushed into the middle by the two suspects who drove off with him until they could identify a place whereby they could off load the cigarettes into their own vehicle.
The complaint managed to call the police and provided them with a description of the suspects. A manhunt was launched. The Tracking Team immediately followed up on the information provided and arrested the two suspects in different residential areas respectively. The vehicle and an undisclosed amount of cash were recovered.
Investigation continues.
