The Barnyard Theatre is proud to announce the launch of its glamorous new venue in the renowned Emperors Palace – a member of the prestigious Peermont Group.
Our latest Barnyard Theatre will be found in the food & entertainment court in the Emporium at Emperors Palace. The doors will open to the public on 31 July 2014. The two organisations have excellent synergies and we look forward to a long-term, mutually beneficial relationship.
The Barnyard Theatre at Emperors Palace will be the 6th theatre in the Barnyard group, joining Cresta Barnyard, Gateway Barnyard (Durban), Parkview Barnyard (Pretoria East), Rivonia Barnyard and Willowbridge Barnyard (Cape Town).
The Barnyard Theatre celebrates the 18th anniversary of its founding concept this year. The group has expanded and transformed vastly since its humble beginnings on a dairy farm in Plettenberg Bay, though patrons can look forward to the same interior scene and feel that is inherent across all Barnyard Theatres, resembling the original concept of shared enjoyment.
The theatre will have a seating capacity of 400 and include an in-house catering division with pizzas, platters and buffet options for sale to patrons attending shows. This unique theatre experience provides the perfect night out with live entertainment for couples, families and friends. Our venues are also ideal for birthday parties, fundraising events, corporate functions, client entertainment, day conferencing and more.
The Barnyard Theatre’s in-house productions are world class and have toured abroad to Europe, The Middle East and other African countries. More recently Barnyard Theatre artists performed to sell-out audiences at the Madinat theatre in the 5-star Jumeirah Resort, Dubai.
Time Warp – our hit show where Rock Stars, Hollywood & Broadway collide – will be the opening show at this new venue. The production features timeless rocking hits and incredible dance sequences from the best movies and musicals of our time, including Grease, We Will Rock You, Men in Black, James Bond, Moulin Rouge, Footloose, Fame, Saturday Night Fever, Dirty Dancing & more! Time Warp will be performed from 31 July to 31 August 2014. The show will run Tuesdays to Saturdays at 20:00 (doors open at 18:30) and Sundays at 14:00 (doors open at 12:00). Tickets are priced from R100 to R160 per person and can be purchased telephonically on 011 928 1108, online at www.barnyardtheatres.co.za or from the Barnyard Theatre box office situated at the entrance to the theatre.

In 1996 the first Barnyard Theatre was opened by the Möller family on their dairy farm just outside Plettenberg Bay. Louis and Sybel had both been involved in the performing arts most of their lives, Louis as co-founder and producer of, amongst others, the long-running programme Carte Blanche, and Sybel Coetzee as a freelance actress and TV presenter.
In 2003 Louis joined forces with well-known South African musician Duck Chowles and together they formed The Barnyard Theatre Production Company. Duck Chowles now produces and directs all Barnyard Theatre stage creations.
Barnyard music shows transcend boundaries – they’re vibrant, uplifting and highly entertaining. The Barnyard Theatre believes in growing and supporting local talent.
