On June 11, 2014 the Hillbrow Cluster had a Child Protection Week awareness event in commemoration of those children who have been used and abused. Under the leadership of Maj-Gen Teko Pharasi, the Cluster Social Crime Prevention Coordinators and Communication Officers had invited scholars from the various schools within the Cluster policing precinct.
The Hillbrow Cluster policing precinct includes Hillbrow, Norwood, Jeppe, Linden, Parkview, Rosebank, Cleveland and Yeoville. The scholars were educated and made aware of their rights and responsibilities as well as the various career they can pursue in the police service. The National Head for the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Maj-Gen Masego Botsheleng addressed the scholars and emphasized on issues of child abuse, child neglect, child pornography, bulling, and substance abuse.
The scholars were also entertained with by SAPS Gauteng Band as well as local artists.
