Thekiso Shimmy (34), David Ndlovu (28) and Vusi Ndlovu, (26) years were recently sentenced to life imprisonment by South Gauteng High Court for armed robbery.

It is alleged that on Saturday July 21, 2012, at approximately 5.07pm the complainant was coming from the garage next to her residential area.  She allegedly stopped at the gate and tried to open the gate with the remote control.  The gate didn’t want to open. The domestic worker, whom was watching her through the window, saw that she was struggling and she went to help.

She opened the gate for her and she drove in. Immediately three suspects accosted her, one of the suspects switched her car off and took out the keys from the ignition.  She was pointed with a firearm and robbed of her jewellery.  The suspects realised that the domestic worker saw them and she was running away, two ran after her.  She screamed and they runaway.

The same suspects as it seems there were on a mission, they then went to the next street whereby they found another victim whom was opening the gate and robbed him of jewellery as well.

They were chased and managed to getaway.  They went in one of the houses not far away from the second incident and pushed the domestic worker into the house.  They pushed her into the bedroom, tied her up, and closed her mouth with the cloth.

They searched the house while waiting for the owners of the house whom were not at home at the time.  The suspects ate and drink while waiting.  The owners of the house arrived late in the evening and were confronted, and one of the suspects stabbed the owner of the house and he later died.

The suspects loaded the households inside the victim’s vehicle and sped off.  The police were called, case docket opened and investigation started.

Detective Warrant officer Frank Nthwala, Detective Warrant Officer Allister Teit and Detective Constable Wonder Lubisi were tasked to take upon the investigation.

The officers recovered the vehicle in Alexander, and tracked down the suspects.  They managed to arrest the three suspects and identification parade was conducted by Detective Philemon Lekota.

The three suspects were pointed out by the complainants.  The trial went on until the suspects were sentenced to fifteen years imprisonment for robbery aggravating circumstances, and life imprisonment for murder.

We would like to thank the members for their dedication, hard work and the commitment shown on their work, and also the complainants for their fully co-operation.
