Gauteng Police Emergency Service (PES) members have arrested forty seven suspects, including three women for possession and dealing with drugs. .
PES members were busy with an operation in Carletonville Cluster held on 07 July 2014. The operation was conducted in Bekkersad, Foschiville, Khutsong, Wedela, and Westonaria.
A bag of dagga and 46 pokes (wrapped size ready to sell) estimated to be amount of R7 500 were recovered in Foschville with eighteen suspects, nine suspects from Carletonville, five suspects from Khutsong, two from Wedela, one from Westonaria and twelve from Bekkerdsal. Another bag of gold dust, cutting torch and two big gas bottles estimated at R27 000 were recovered in Bekkersdal.
SAPS will always clamp down on drug abuse because it is believe that most of crimes in the areas are linked to drugs and alcohol abuse. Drug users are abusing their rights and depriving communities of their right to life by getting involved in crime. Drugs are taken away from the communities and will be destroyed to save lives. Once Gauteng is free of drugs, South Africa will be safe.
All suspects aged between 22 and 45 will be appearing in different magistrate courts facing a charge of possession and dealing with dagga.
