A former principal of The King’s College and Preparatory School in Bryanston, Sandton was hospitalised after he tried to commit suicide when allegations of sexual assault surfaced against him.
Police said the man, a former principal at The King’s College and Preparatory School, who has yet to appear in court, tried to kill himself after a former pupil opened a case of sexual assault against him on Sunday at Douglasdale police station.
Douglasdale Police Station’s Colonel Tinus Swart, said the alleged incident took place on July 1, 2005.
“The case came to our attention when it was reported by the victim,” he added.
The alleged victim is now 21 years old.
Swart said the Sexual Offences Unit based in Krugersdorp was investigating the case.
