A police constable is under police guard at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital after he was shot and wounded during a house robbery in Rosettenville in the early hours of Monday morning, August 25, 2014. Five of his accomplices managed to escape and police have launched a manhunt for them.
It is alleged that six suspects were involved in a house robbery at Long Street. As they left the scene, the victim followed them. Johannesburg Metro Police officers, who were patrolling in the area at the time, saw one of the suspects and confronted him. The suspect pointed them with a firearm. In the process, he was shot in the upper body and arrested. His appointment certificate and a pistol were seized.
Five of his accomplices escaped with several stolen goods including laptops and cell phones. Investigation continues.
