A Benoni father Retief Liebenberg who shot and killed his daughter Chevonne’s boyfriend Dewalt “Poena” Visser and the young man’s father Dewalt Visser appeared briefly in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court this week.
At the request of the prosecution, the case was postponed to February for further investigation. The magistrate agreed to a request by Liebenberg to scrap his bail conditions over the festive season so he could go on holiday to the South Coast.
He was released on R50000 bail on November 15 on condition that he reported to the Benoni police station every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. He was also ordered not to apply for a new passport to replace his expired one.
Liebenberg did not approve of the relationship, on the day of the incident; he found them both in his home. Visser snr received a call from his son, he went to the house and Liebenberg allegedly shot and killed them both.
