Morningside Shopping Centre will again host a sparkling exhibition by Glass Escapes studio from Thursday, 20 February to Sunday, 23 February, featuring magnificent handcrafted glass art and glassware that clearly contributes to the community and helps ignite new talent.
From colourful stained-glass to glass-fusion and mosaic work to painting on glass, the Glass Escapes exhibition showcases an impressive variety of techniques and styles.
Glass Escapes is an accredited and enthusiastic member of Proudly South African and has been so since 2003. They believe in the ‘ubuntu’ way of life and are eagerly involved in giving back to the community. The studio and its artists have supported several charities over the years, the newest charity close to their hearts is the Valoyi Trust in Limpopo.
The creative projects at Glass Escapes even support our environment by recycling with flair. Glass Escapes uses a kiln to transform old bottles into fantastic and functional dinnerware.
And, it is in this spirit that Morningside Shopping Centre provides its exhibition space to Glass Escapes to show its crafts and extend its good work.
The exhibition will include work by top glass artists tutored by Carol Mullany of Glass Escapes, including Karin Gerard, Jennifer Dohmen, Pam Wallace and Carol herself.
