The suspect Jonathan Mutunda was recently sentenced to fifteen years imprisonment by the Randburg magistrate court for hi-jacking the vehicle.
It is alleged that on the May 11, 2011, at approximately, 2pm, the complainant was driving a company vehicle on Fleet Street in Ferndale, Randburg, he was hooted at by unknown men who then forced his vehicle off the road. He alleged that he stopped the vehicle as he was blocked; the suspects got out of the vehicle, pointed a firearm at him and pulled him out of the vehicle, they then forced him to kneel down in their vehicle.
The suspects drove the company vehicle while the other suspects drove with him around Randburg area until they dropped him off a few hours later.
The police were called and a case docket was registered and assigned to Detective Constable Moloko Motau whom initiated the investigation and tracked the suspect. He arrested the one suspect and upon questioning him, it led to the recovery of the hijacked vehicle in Northgate.
The suspect went through court proceedings till he was recently sentenced to fifteen years imprisonment for robbery of motor vehicle.
