On Friday November 22, 2013 RSS Control Room received a signal from a client in Chartwell who has a cottage close to the river; upon arrival our Reaction Field Manager confirmed that there was a break-in.
The neighbours reported seeing a suspect carrying a TV and other items with him along the river.
With the description of the criminal, the RSS RAID Team and Reaction units managed to intercept the suspect just before the Msawawa informal settlement. The thief had hidden the items along his way but still had some items on his person.
After being questioned by RSS staff, the suspected thief disclosed the location of the other items and they were recovered.
Douglasdale SAPS were contacted and arrived on scene to make the arrest.
