Fifteen adults sustained minor to serious injuries when their taxi caught alight on Witkoppen Road in Fourways, Johannesburg this afternoon.
“When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene (near Montecasino), fire department personnel had extinguished the fire and the 14 commuters had climbed out of the taxi”, said Luyanda Majija of ER24.
The patients from the taxi were treated for minor to moderate injuries.
The taxi caught fire after it collided with a light motor vehicle.
There was one patient from this vehicle who sustained serious injuries.
All patients were transported to various nearby hospitals for further treatment.
The exact circumstances leading to the collision are under investigation.
