Murder suspect gets thirty years jail term

Thaba Albert Makhata, 35 years old was recently sentenced to thirty (30) years in prison by the Randburg Magistrate court.

It is alleged that on Wednesday December 28, 2011, at approximately 2.30pm the police were on patrol when they were approached by the member of the public informing them about someone who was stabbed in Bordeaux, Randburg.

On their arrival at the scene, they found that the victim was already taken to the hospital by the ambulance.

On further investigation they found out that there was another victim who had also been stabbed and had died as a result of his injuries.

The officers, Sergeant William Ratsela and Constable Patricia Mukwevho started the investigation on the scene which led to the arrest of the suspect.

“The suspect was taken into custody and investigation was assigned to Detective Constable Lesetja Moloto who tirelessly furthered the investigation till the suspect was sentenced to thirty years imprisonment, fifteen years for murder, fifteen years for robbery and declared unfit to possess any firearm”, said Warrant officer Johannes Maja of Randburg SAPS.
