The clock is ticking and soccer fans all over the country are getting ready for the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2014 and the first game between Brazil and Croatia at 10pm tonight.

The festivities at the NZG are not far behind with the live screening of the Mexico vs Cameroon game on Friday, 13 June 2014 at 6pm at our Fan Park.

Saturday, 14 June 2014, sees Columbia clash with Greece at 6pm. All this action can be viewed at the NZG’s Flamingo Restaurant on our big screen.

Serving up serious soccer sporting action, the National Zoological Gardens of South Africa will be screening 11 of the World Cup games in its Flamingo Restaurant. The selected games will be screened every Saturday and Sunday nights, from 13 June 2014 until the final on 13 July 2014.

This is a first for the NZG; live soccer matches have never been screened at the zoo before.

And there will be food, glorious food, to cater to all tastes served during the games and the live entertainment. Many of the foods served will represent the authenticity of the teams in action on the screening night.

But it’s not just the adults who will enjoy themselves in front of the big screen; children can enjoy our secure play area dedicated to their every whim.

Entrance for visitors wishing to watch the games is R30.00 per person. A cash bar is available should you wish to quench your thirst.

Be sure not to miss this one-of-a-kind viewing experience. Further information can be obtained on our website at www.nzg.ac.za
