The charred bodies of two people have been discovered in an abandoned vehicle in Hartebeespoort Dam, passing motorists who noticed the flames in the bush contacted the Fire Brigade and Police.
South African Police Services say it appears one of the victims was shot in the head. It’s understood they were taken during a hijacking in Lonehill last night, Saturday August 2, 2014.
Sabata Mokgwabone, spokesperson for the Police said that a case of murder has been opened.
A man who witnessed the vehicle burning says the incident is haunting him, he said it appeared as if one of the two had been shot.
“I saw that it was two people in the back seat of a car. The one’s hands you could see had been tied up. They were burnt quite badly. One person was still sitting up straight. The other person was lying across the other on the other seat.”
The South African Police Douglasdale are appealing to anyone who saw any unusual activity or witnessed a hijacking that took place on Saturday 2 August 2014 at approximately 7.30pm and 10pm on Concourse Road Lonehill to please contact Colonel Naidoo of Douglasdale detectives on 082-551-8762.
