The Douglasdale SAPS are conducting a series of anti-crime sweeps in parking areas adjacent Malls and shopping centers to stamp out the growing scourge of Theft out of Motor Vehicles and Theft of Motor Vehicles.
In a recent operation, Douglasdale SAPS joined forces with Fidelity Security Services and conducted a large anti-crime sweep of the Pineslopes shopping centre parking areas. Various loitering persons were checked and several arrests made. The message is going out that our community’s vehicles are not to be targets for criminals.
“We urge all community members to take proper care of their property, to not leave any property unattended, to always check that their motor vehicles are locked before leaving the vehicles by trying the door handle and boot lid, to keep all valuables in the vehicle completely out of sight and to where possible not keep such valuables in vehicles” commented Jean Berdou Chair of the Douglasdale Community Policing Forum.
“Community apathy and carelessness leads to easy pickings for opportunistic criminal elements not to mention such apathy attracts more criminals to the area to partake in the easy pickings. Play your part and be vigilant he urges and lets defeat crime together” he went on to add.
