A man has been left in a critical condition after he was doused in paint and set alight in Johannesburg CBD, late on Friday night, April 4, 2014.
ER24 paramedics arrived at the intersection of Klein and De Villiers street to find an angry crowd standing around a severely injured man.
Paramedics immediately assessed the screaming man, finding he had been severely burned over the lower part of his body. The patient was immediately loaded into the ambulance to be treated due to the agitated crowd.
Once on route to a nearby hospital in Johannesburg, paramedics treated and stabilised the patient, covering his burns with special dressings. He was handed over to the hospital in a critical but stable condition.
The cause of the incident was unknown and local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
